Soaks into the medal, reduces,. friction increases the vicosity. I spent a lot of money on a Detroit Oil leaks, Front seal, rear seal, pan gasket ,valve cover gasket , it was the accessories drive gasket, the one in the front over the bull gear. Good luck

The first thing I did when I bought my current truck was pressure wash the engine. It had oil smeared around the oil pan. Once I wash it good, I fired it up, kicked up the idle and found the culprit. Oil was coming from one place only, Front of the fuel pump(gasket). Seems it’s a common problem for these “Come Apart”(Cummins) engines when they reach certain mileage.
Midwest Trucker Thanks this. -
That's nothing compared to a steam cleaner..
That actually works.. -
Lucas makes good products (Ol' Forrest Lucas was a trucker himself, you know)but on an oil leak, I'd think it's best to fix it right, as we discussed. Coolant a different story, as I've used a product called "Mend-Tite" many times with great success, but an oil leak should be repaired. Oil has such a more important job than to start with leak stoppers. Besides, are you ready for this? An old timer once told me, "to stop a seal leak, a few drops of brake fluid swells the seal". I tried it in a leaking motorcycle fork, and it stopped the leak. I think all these so-called "leak stoppers" all have a bit of brake fluid in them. It's probably a head gasket.

Exactly. Something to swell the seals and usually a really high viscosity, so it'll slow leaks that way too.
And a full measure of voodoo magic sprinkles + decades of mythology.MTN Boomer Thanks this.
