Late 40's
Better get busy on something. Live till you're in your 70's or 80's or 90's and try to survive on Social Security will be a struggling, low standard of living, life.
You're still young enough to qualify for a pension from some company.
Even the bartenders, hotel cleaners, waitresses, etc. here in Las Vegas will have a union pension, plus Social Security. You can find something there in Phoenix with some type of pension.
I know a few guys that were in bands or drove for bands and eventually had health problems from that lifestyle and are now poor and having a hard life. One of them was standing right beside Conway Twitty when Conway dropped dead. -
Here's the good retired life:

The music is nice .
I kept thinking the guy was comedian Ron White after he had been in Eastern Europe too long or something.
The secret to a happy retirement is to be rich and for wife number four to be the same age as your grandkids ?
Anyone got a translation of the song ?
And what language was that?Chinatown Thanks this. -
Ted Power is German.
Your quote, "The secret to a happy retirement is to be rich and for wife number four to be the same age as your grandkids"
That's easy to do. Mine's not quite that young, but is 30 yrs. younger than me.
I've had more than 4 wives and not bragging or complaining; to each his own.Last edited: Jul 15, 2021

Hey you all I didn’t mean to leave you hanging.
I was hoping to report back by now, “Hey! I got a dump truck driving job!”. Realistically, I don’t think that’s going to happen for a while with my level of experience. Dump truck jobs are fewer than van freight. And I haven’t had any experience with construction in my life. Backing up to a hot gravel paver sounds sure sounds like a lot of responsibilty.
I applied to one job today, local CDL driver, no touch freight, part time weekends, automatic Volvos. That sure would be perfect. I could make all my bills and then some, and still have plenty of time to practice guitar or bartend or anything else I want to do. We’ll see.
At the same time I’m also working the computer angle. I could probably find an entry level job in PC repair. I’ve been building/upgrading computers since the days of Windows 3.11 (I run Linux now). I’ve worked in programming, tech support, and even had a job doing nightly tape backups on an IBM mainframe! In this line of work at least I’d be using my brain a little more, and could work into my 70’s easily.
But that’s where I am and I’ll let you all know when I score a job. No matter what job I take though, I am not getting vaccinated, that I can assure you. I’ll live out of my Chevy Express 1500 before that happens LOL.
