One would think that they would have changed the whole system to a quick disconnect no rubber involved..
MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
I asked one our our mechanics about that, and according to him grease won’t break down rubber but spray lubes will.
Look likes your solution seems to be working. I actually didn’t wind up with 2 seals on each air line tor once when I unhooked yesterday.ibcalm19 and Wasted Thyme Thank this. -
Interesting. I’ve put hi-temp grease on my glad hand seals and they got mushy. I’ve also bought heater hose and tried it for a oil cooler, and that made a mess and sucked. Maybe it’s just me, and I’m probably wrong.

Anyone ever try dielectric grease?
-
I used a little fifth wheel grease.otterinthewater Thanks this.

You guys should look into Ballistol. It's good stuff and does not degrade rubber or silicon.
-
Glue them in with a couple dabs of 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Black or the old original “gorilla snot” yellow. Any non silicone based grease/oil is gonna eventually eat the rubber. Also oil mixed with compressed air causes condensate. The nasty stuff that needs drained from the reserve tanks.

Cheap chapstick. A little dab will do it.
