Everybody wants it in writing, but nobody wants a union.

 

Written contracts are enforceable. With a decent attorney. No union required.

Think of the union as an attorney that's always on the job, enforcing the work rules. Kinda neat.

 

Think of it as an entity taking your money to push it's own agenda. Kinda sucks.

 

Yeah, attorneys are known for their cost-efficiency. You're right.

 

My pay and benefits package brings a tear to my eye. Hopefully you're doing the same out in the non-union sector is all I can say.

 

I know mine did, now my pension takes it's place.

 

But...but...I CAN DO THAT WITH A 401K AND IRA!

...out of my paycheck, with a minimal match from my company...

Personally my principles are more important than money. If it comes to a few dollars less vs my dues going to a political person or persons I fully disagree with. I'll be fine with less money. Not about to sell my soul to the dollar.
