Ever watch "Rawhide"? Living out in the open, doing the big cattle drive, in the saddle for hours on end. A rough and tough, rugged life. Think cattle drives paid lots of money? Think the ordinary individual can stand up to grime and fleas, the weather for months at a time? A cowboy can. Thats what cowboys do.
How about the military? Soldier goes out and does a couple tours. Away from the family for YEARS. You are the outsider. Noone likes you. And you have to do "jobs" that you may not like. Do soldiers get paid for all the hours theyre away from home? How much should they pay you to be willing to risk getting your a s s shot off? Who would take such a job? A soldier. Thats what soldiers do.
So I got this big ol horse. 550HP. Its a hood so its not 4wheeler friendly. Spend alot of time in the saddle. 205000+ miles last year in the saddle. Been through foul weather, some of the coldest and most brutal snow storms imaginable. I'm one of those guys thats done everything that he's ever wanted to do in life and am completely satisfied in life. I am not afraid. I hear "men" crying and they try to make me afraid, but I am not afraid of tommorrow. Its better to die courageous than to live in fear. I can pull any load anyone needs to pull and if it pays well enough, I will take that load to Hell. Why would anyone live in a box with wheels, work extremely long hours doing a dangerous, stressfilled job, be away from friends and family and whatnot and have irregular sleep patterns...etc,etc? I'm a trucker...its what I do.
Being a cowboy wasnt for everyone, being a soldier isnt for everyone. If trucking isnt for you, then find whats for you. Dont cry about your lot in life. Go.
They should give the military a 15 yr tax break. They should leave parents alone and let parents raise their kids their way. They should get rid of the IRS. They should legalize prostitution (if a girl is going to put out, she should at least be allowed to profit). But my pay is fine.
Be where? I'm a day's ride out anywhere I roam. And if something happens, my family knows how to deal.
Youre trying to make me afraid. Sorry, it doesnt work. I am not Republican (not Democrat for that matter either). Deal with tommorrow tommorrow. Today, I am satisfied.
$ per hour worked..

Very well said Six.

The crybaby's will never understand it. -
Hmmm. Sounds like you aren't very dedicated to your family. If that works for you though, have at it. I personally am going to see my kids everyday or be unemployed. Period. Those kids won't be little forever and I can always find another job.

The wheel holders are the ones the training companies have to keep hiring new wheel holders to replace .

They are also the ones that continue to whine about how they have it so bad but they make no effort to change it they just continue to whine. That's what I don't get, if they hate it so bad go work at McDonalds.
-
Just remember. Those whiners are needed. If you will ever see better pay and conditions someone has to whine to make it happen.
-
No I paid my dues and worked up to a great job. I didn't whine about it, I just did it like everyone else who paid there dues out here. Either deal with it and put in your time till you get that better job or get out plain and simple. Whining does absolutely nothing but make you sound like a 5 yr old.REDD Thanks this.

I've been seeing whiners for years and the last year the more they whined the worse things got . The only ones that need whiners are the bottom feeder carriers and OOIDA .outerspacehillbilly Thanks this.

Ah the American way. I am good so screw everyone else.
Seriously though. You wouldn't have found a good job to be had if people didn't whine and get things changed for the better at some point in history.
