Weed burners are a terrible advice. I want to see rolling coal coming out of the stacks. That's the beauty of a large car rolling around the highways.
Smoke coming out from exhaust, seems to be excess smoke.

Nothing wrong with blowing them out, at least til you get new ones.
Last Call Thanks this. -
Better off just tapping filter on a flat service to dislodge some debris. I know one guy with a isx that blew out his filter every few months his rebuilt engine that had only 200,000 miles on it was unable to be rebuilt again it had wear everywhere from dirt . He wasn’t resealing filter properly and it would suck up dirt and salt steady they told him .pumpkinishere and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

If you've been running any where near the west lately they could be filled up with ash. I had that happen a few years ago.201 and pumpkinishere Thank this.

As already stated, I would definitely check the air filters. If you're not getting the right amount of air you're going to be running rich which means more smoke.pumpkinishere Thanks this.

Thank goodness the white smoke coming out from our truck was due to an exhaust pipe being cracked. We were expecting a large bill from peterbilt. Thank goodness we only had to replace an exhaust pipe.
Coffey Thanks this. -
thanks for your criticism but the shop found the pipe from the scr to the dpf was broke blowing out exhaust. So I do it like everyone else does it. Learn as we go, I don’t know everything mechanics on a semi but I can learn and figure it out. *rolls my eyes*stuckinthemud Thanks this.

Blowing them out puts tiny holes (and possibly larger holes that you might not notice) in them which allows particles to get into engine.
If you need to get more life out of them you can drop them repeatedly dirty side down onto concrete. Vacuuming the dirty side is likely better than blowing them out if you really have to do something.pumpkinishere and Magoo1968 Thank this.
