Do you need to wear a respirator if your hauling bleach, caustic, acid, and or general water treatment chemicals? My company hauls these and the chemical driver isn’t clean shaven. More like stubble but hasn’t been asked to shave it off. I’m looking at one of the BIG chemical outfits when I move. I’ve got a beard. I know I’ll have to wear the suit, just hoping I won’t be asked to shave. But for the right job at the right price I’d do it.

It is usually a facility policy. We do not have a facial hair policy but those that have em have to shave before making the delivery inside the compound. A couple of refinery's come to mind for us.Air Cooled Thanks this.

This gig would be delivering to a lot of city and township water and wastewater facilities. They call it mini bulk. When I road along with our chemical guy once we usually just delivered a few hundred gallons to a containment system in the middle of nowhere. Didn’t seem like having a beard was a problem

A respirator cannot create air tight seal over beard. Only reason I can see for no facial hair. I never have beard and I do occasional auto painting.Dennixx Thanks this.

Most common reason plants/customers don't won't beards is due to not getting a good seal on a respirator in emergency situations.
If religious purposes prevent you from cutting your beard, work somewhere else. -
Thats what i do we use to have a no hair policy when we were fit tested for half masks now it dont matter we run escape respirators the go in mouth like a snorkel. Bleach is easy dont mix with anything and dont piss in it you will be fine
