LTL training

I know ODFL will train you and put your through their school training

 

AAA Cooper will run you with a manager to see if you can drive, then run you with another driver a few days on route.

 

YRC has several schools starting, then you are paid for school, plus a job when its over $$$$$

 

Holland has a program locally, where you start on the dock, and work up to driver.

 

You have the needed driving experience to work LTL. The company you hire on with will train you on their technology and how they want everything done, but you don’t need a training program if you have been driving for years. If you have never driven a forklift you can learn that in a couple minutes. If you drove a tractor and trailer for US Foods for 3 months without hitting anything you should be ready for LTL. I started my commercial driving career with Consolidated Freightways 34 years ago having driven farm tractors, straight trucks and tractor drawn fire trucks for many years. There was nothing special about driving LTL if you know how to drive a truck and trailer. Many LTL companies now will hire people fresh out of driving school and I would imagine you are much more experienced than a recent trucking school graduate. ABF would be my first place to look if they have a terminal near you. If not ABF then many other LTL companies are close to them in pay and benefits.

 

It’s is likely that the companies who are currently hiring those with zero experience and training them will be likely to hire you. They may require some training and for you to prove you can or can’t drive their equipment proficiently. If you can successfully drive it you may or may not be required to go thru their full training program as they need drivers on the street ASAP.
