Well you know my love affair with the fld120... it really does ride like a dream.

Actually it's not bothering me at all. I'm at a shipper waiting to get loaded and I like to look at my truck at night. I look at it during the day too but the night time I have a real bright flashlight it's the best time to look for problems. It's easy to find bad shocks oil leaks whatever. Everything stands out at night with a bright flashlight.

That little bit of movement out from the bottom Spring, do you think that's because of loose u-bolts?

You know I've worked this truck over from top to bottom and inside out. The funny thing is everything in the front end was tight. I saw no reason to replace anything.

This truck goes down the road so perfectly straight it rides so well the steering just holds the road the way that the mighty fld120 is supposed to.

I have no issue with any of it I think the truck rides perfectly.

I just want to be pre-emptive on any problems and if that's going to become a problem I would rather jump on it now.

Long as everything else up front is tight I wouldn't worry a bit about it. I think my Pete has a slightly thicker piece of metal with a rubber isolator there. It's not tight really, it's actually split in the top. Anything there that is actually tight would eventually break due to springs moving separately from each other up and down. So I think you could put a clamp on it for piece of mind but don't be surprised when it breaks.

    Really I wouldn't worry

Yeah the rubbers already missing. Old style shackle bushings usually go bad, even when greased well. Often hanger bracket on frame gets walloped out, and needs replaced also. Surprised yours aren’t bad. Slightest bit dry, and they’ll snap crackle and pop on turns. Since you grease it so often, maybe they never pop. Might be some movement. Id let it be till it needs shackle bushings. Get the Horton roller bushing kit. Much better. I doubt the Ubolts are loose. Worth checking. I wouldn’t be surprised if the alignment nipple on the spring is rusted away. At least partially. Even so, it’s not going anywhere. If it’s setting level, and distances between bottom of frame and top of spring are the same on Both sides. You can decide later if it’s worth changing the Ubolts, just to check the alignment pins. If ones weak, you’ll want 2 new springs anyway. Otherwise you can repair the old spring by welding a new nipple and grinding it to fit.

Check with a spring shop. I’ve seen clamps that use a long bolt.

They normally have a rivet through a hole in the spring to hold their position. I have spot welded some when replacing leaves in broken springs. Spring leaves do not accept welds well. Sometimes the welds broke and the clamp slide on the spring.
As other said: If everything else is good roll on.
Use a hammer to check for loose U bolts. Tight ones ting and loose ones thud. Ones that thud will not always tighten.

Those type clamps should also have a spacer over the bolt. When the bolt is tight the clamp just holds the leaves close. Does not bind them together.
