I got to thinking about this last night after I went to sleep....
I wonder if we here at truckers report can set up some kind of annual BBQ meet and greet weekend. Of course I know a lot of members wouldn't know where & when they'll be.... But it can be a "While your passing thru" type of thing. It would have to be centrally located along a major freight lane.... OKC keeps coming to my mind....
It could be named something like thetruckersreport.com annual truckers appreciation weekend BBQ! It will be completely voluntary & members can make donations for the food & drink. If the donations exceed the actual cost of the party, then the rest could be given to a needy charity or to my mail order bride fund!
truck stop ettiquit to grill or not to grill

This was discussed a long time ago and was ruled that it was a no go. Too many chances of nut cases doing something and the TR being held responsible.
-
yea since by my place is not the freight capitol of the world....lol no one would stop along 70 rotfl......I-44 corridor would be good......
-
Well then.... To eliminate the nut cases.... You aren't invited!!

just saying i could pick it up and have it ready for pickup

I'm home for Christmas!!!! (we might have to run Christmas night but that's okay)
Drove hard to get out of Utah ahead of a storm and had to avoid Flagstaff's storm.
I shall protect all you poor lil delicate flatbedders.
As to a get together: Redd i suggested one but the end result was almost everyone said it would be to hard to do or didn't wish to.
I guess maybe.........start with a small group and say "the rest can join". Let it grow or not grow over the years?Lil Blue Pony Thanks this. -
Long before you suggested it (back when I was a mod on here) there was a couple others lil boots and cerebus who suggested having a meet. It was in the works to arrange it when wiseone said that TR could not be involved. He said if drivers wanted to meet on their own that was fine, but the legal end of it the TR did not want to be liable for anything if something happened. When they was planning it they was shooting for a place near nashville. There was a poll to see who would attend. Seems like several were in favor, but it was to hard to work out the details. Truck parking, liability insurance etc....

I wasn't disagreeing with you nor was I saying I was the first or only. I just simply shared the info I had.

I was merely relaying what happened the last time this was planned.

kk I was concerned you thought I was arguing with you. I don't mind arguing with you but try to save it for something more important.
