If you're with a company that uses a fuel optimizer program, you fuel where they tell you to.
You've fueled at the company terminal in Tulsa when you left there Sunday morning. You pull into the Triple-T in Tucson this morning to fuel, and, like Gomer Pyle used to say - "Surprise, surprise, surprise!"

This is terrible news for anyone. I'm sorry to hear this to all the Aarow drivers. This isn't good. I think we are going to see a few more companies dropping out here after this new year. With things the way they are, it's tough for everyone. If it was me, I would probably try to meet an agreement with the shipper if I had a load on, and throw fuel on and take the truck home. I mean what's the worse they can do to you? Cutting your fuel card off is one thing, but not getting a check does not sit well with me. I hope you all work through this, and have a merry christmas. Sorry again to all you aarow drivers.

That's what I was saying in #137 above. I think I'd try to work a deal with the shipper first thing in the morning to have them help me to deliver their freight.
The shippers want their freight delivered, they don't want to have to try to figure out exactly where their load is, and then have some other trucking company transfer it from an Arrow trailer to their trailer, then go deliver it.
All I know is this - if I was a company that shipped freight with Arrow, and one of their drivers called me and said they had my product on their trailer, and needed me to send them $500 for enough fuel to deliver the load and buy a bus ticket home because Arrow had gone belly-up... I think I'd be more than willing to work with them!luvmyhubby, GuysLady and Hillbilly Highway Thank this. -

Pretty derogitory article coming from this source... -
Well, I guess I'm the prick in the group.
Trucking companies go out of business everyday. Thousands have gone out of business over the last year & a half. So, why the big fuss over Arrow? I didn't see this big fuss when Jevic locked their doors. Or when Continental Xpress did the same thing. What about Cannon Xpress & PST?
I don't feel remorse for the company or the driver's. Above are 4 quotes from news stories. If your not getting paid, then why the hell are you still out there driving their truck for FREE?
I would of bounced out of there & went to a different company the first time I didn't get a check or if the #### thing bounced! I would of even called Swift.... And they aren't the highest ranking company on my list... But at least they pay their #### drivers... And pay them on time!
Sorry, I can't feel remorse for a driver who is so #### ignorant to stick around with a company who isn't paying him. -
They did use that program and they had it set up to fuel by the half tank. Which meant that no truck ever had less than half a tank of fuel, about 600 miles worth. I dunno if they changed that and I usually skipped every other fuel stop since I didn't feel like stopping for anything.

My first co. was Arrow.
I got a phone call stating the Laredo, tx. yard was closed. I shortly arrived in pueblo co. to pick up a/c units from trane to a school in il. The guard asked for a bl# and so# and preloaded trailer #. I called extened operations (after 5 pm) at 5:30 p.m. 12/21/09 and was told to drive to the nearest truckstop and await a company wide message. I knew then. Later that night tulsa local news aired a segment on arrow, and I again got a phone call. After staying up Late, I saw a fellow arrow driver get out of his truck around 8:30 am. His qualcom at first said to keep delivering loads. That odd order re-inforced my feeling of arrow's fate. Then a new message of the company's end. That would be the first time to know about arrow's fate barring outside contact to knowledgeable people.
As soon as Arrow admitted clsoing to the employees officially, I darted out from pueblo co. to tulsa. On the way I found out about Daimler Financing and the 200$ bus re-imbursement. And saw an Arrow truck stopped at the lamar,co. scales w/ loaded tarp, and later a deserted one in emporia, ks. I could take it to tulsa or wichita said Daimler. I then asked if I could take it to kc, mo. since they don't seem to be particular. Yes, they say and gas/bus will also be re-imbursed up to $200. It took two hours to get all my equipment out at my house before I delivered the truck to freightliner at 11:00 pm 10/22/09. I had been keeping the tanks full, so I only needed to spend $50 for gas.
They lived up to all promises. I got 2,500 avg. miles a week. And there was no writing on the wall. In hind sight, we had a previous embezzlement rumor involving top executives. Then the fuel card was fluctuating on accept/reject for 4-5 days.
My D.M. was great and I never had a problem w/ Arrow. I am glad I got to work for them before they closed. If they are the bottom feeders and there are better companies out there then I will truly love to keep on trucking.GuysLady, rickway65 and Hillbilly Highway Thank this. -
While you bring up valid points there is no good being done to the drivers that just got hosed by posting these comments.
In the sake of the Christmas spirit please don't stick the knife into the backs of these drivers that were left stranded. You acknowledge you are being a prick. Remember that just because you have one doesn't mean you need to be one.
Its not the fact that Arrow closed like Jevic and others, its the way they did it to their drivers and customers. If I remember right Jevic was a controlled shut down over several weeks. Allowing their drivers to get home and clean out the trucks and turn the truck in at their terminal. Heck I remember seeing Jevic trucks still on the road 3 weeks after I heard they were hanging it up.Hillbilly Highway, misterG, GuysLady and 7 others Thank this. -
i just heard about arrow trucking last night on the forums and i must say im not surprised this is the second time for arrow doing this.
about 30 years ago maybe more arrow went down in el paso tx without notice the truck stop was full of there drivers and owner operators the marshal service locked there doors and owner operators couldnt even get there trucks out of the yard for about a week all there drivers were stranded.
sombody bought them out and started running under the same name i havent a clue as to who.
now its bad when somthing like this happens BUT we dont need more laws from the goverement we have more then enough now and that would do no good anyway, we all need to no where we stand and what we can do to protect ourselves if we dont take care of ourselves there is literaly nobody that will.
ive heard several drivers say that the drivers affected have workmans comp or insurance and more , well here is a flash , you dont have anything period and that encludes unemployment i no that makes it worse but it is true.
when a company is still working they can fire you and put you on the ground where ever your at and no they dont have to give you bus fare home they dont have to give you anything period and they usally dont .
WHY? because they can and nothing you can do about it except sue them in cival court, good luck with that.
to give you another example i ran acroos a man and wife team in san antonio stranded four 4 days when i got there , no money for food , no shower, now i fed them for 3 days there company convanet transport and there still running nobody seems to believ that this kind of thing happens till it happens to them but it does everyday and not just with covananet with all of them they could care less about the driver your just a disposible peice of meat you have to look out for yourself your company will not o you might think there good and they are till you get cross ways with them for any reason then your done where ever your at and it is not a fun thing to go thrue. you do not have any protection at all.
thats why i dont do trucking companys period there all a bunch of crooks and none of them care and they all have a big smile and a pair of rose colored glasses till you do somthing they dont like.
now all my trucks are own the road and we dont do passenger BUT i talked to all my drivers and told them that if they run across any arrow drivers that need a ride home put them in the truck and take them where ever they need to go along with feed them if they need it get a recipt and ill pay for it do not leave them stranded.
BUT there is a light in all this somthing is going on that i never thought would happen again in this business, ive heard drivers from all over the country going out of there way to help the driver that are in troubel it kinda makes me proud to be in this business thats the way it use to be and the way it should be after all when times get bad for whatever reason WE ARE ALL WE HAVE.
thing are no doubt going to get worse before it gets better but if we all take that atatude and stand together we will all make it thrue in spite of the hard times and without the #### goverments help there about useless.
my best to all and have a good holliday season in spite of the hard times remember you never lose till you quit. southernpride.----
Slim Pickens, luvmyhubby, Mooniac and 8 others Thank this. -
I'm not an unemployment lawyer but the ability to draw unenjoyment should not change
if/when a company goes belly up.
The state pays this out not the company...... Correct?
