I agree but most all of them also have to acquire new or more property. Build or renovate new buildings, build hiking, do beautification, etc etc.
Still, seems high but I’m happy the money is being spent on this vs some dumb bs like most of the time.

I sure hope they are installing charging stations for my electric truck.
Why do we need rest areas for driverless trucks anyway.
And don't forget they have to close them for a few years to renovate.D.Tibbitt and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
In addition to these major rest area improvements with all the nice amenities, I’d like the states to also build truck only, minimal amenity parking to supplement and increase parking beyond projects like Indiana are doing. I get that the nice places are needed and appreciated, but maximizing truck parking needs to be a priority.
D.Tibbitt, Rocks and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
That’s a good point. And IMO shows electric long haul or driverless trucks are 10+ years out at the very minimum.
If it takes 10 yrs to do this project, it’s very telling and they didn’t even mention electric infrastructure.Wasted Thyme, D.Tibbitt and JoeTruck Thank this.
