I have an appointment with my primary neurologist next month. The last time I saw him he said he might be forced to switch me over to Nayzilam. The Versed syrup is getting almost impossible to get now. Because I live alone I keep two items at all times. Glucagon and Midazolam. Unless you have been around people with epilepsy you have no idea how life-threatening status epilepticus can be!

 

I was wondering about this too. Planning to call Kroger to see if I can stay with them once I go OTR or if I'll have to switch to someone else.

It's my understanding that one reason for this shortage of versed is because it's used on Covid patients!

 

Very true. A kid i went to school with had it pretty bad. The 1st time i saw him have a seizure that was pretty scary watching him flop around

 

Because I live alone over the years I have come to recognize the beginnings of these seizure events. It starts with both my lower legs acting like that want to cramp. This can go on for days. Then I have auras. I have two different types of aura and both have my neurologists looking at me with strange looks on their faces. One such aura is I can start to hear the current in the electrical wires in the walls. This can last for 30 minutes. I also have another that I can be all alone in a room and feel as if the room is full. Generally speaking, once those auras start is when I will take some versed syrup. If I am careful with the timing I can avoid the coming Tonic-Clonic seizure. If not I will have it. Because I am literally out of my mind I can't call for help. I have already resigned myself to the fact because I live alone I will one day have a MAJOR seizure and then go into status epilepticus! Most likely unless someone does a health and welfare check on me such a seizure will prove to be fatal.

 

The thing about the VA is you cannot refill a script at a out of state VA clinic , VA says there computers are not hooked together , there a joke.
