Our shipper is about 20 miles away. So we still have about an hour to drink coffee.
We are however rested, un-fatiuged, and safe to drive.LoSt_AgAiN, Bud A., Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this. -

We have around a inch and a half of tain so far. We are coming out of the heavy part now. So we might see a total of two inches from the remnants of Ida.

Big signs on I-87, kicking the SB off the Thruway at x14. (I got off at x15, I-278)
The tain had stopped, road was drying out, then I'd crest a hill and see a bit of wet road, with 5 or 6 cars scattered on the guard rails like bowling pins.
I pulled into Peelot at x12 on I-78, along with apparently every other sb truck to get fuel. Took me 30 mins to get to the pump.
I ran in to get a coffee. The lady asked me if I got caught in all the flooding, I told her no, I musta missed it.
She says, "Oh, you're lucky. They had to use a boat to get the drivers in the back row last night".......
I forgot to ask who "they" were........
I'm in Amish Country in PA, picking up a load of liquid sugar.
On the way in, it's random road closures due to flooding, classic "low-lying areas" and oversaturated terrain.
The detours have detours. Probably same deal in northern NJ.
Make sure you visit the can, fuel up your truck, load the fridge, and tell dispatch you're on "be-there-when-I-get-there" time.
Sun's out, everything seems normal, services are open, but the situation changes block by block. Weird.LoSt_AgAiN, Rideandrepair, Bud A. and 4 others Thank this.
