Getting empty in Chantilly Va, then going down to Richmond for my coolers going home. We had a coming to Jesus meeting yesterday about this certain recurring issue that has been going on the last 5 months. Because this has affected my getting home as scheduled for hometime, I had no problem whatsoever throwing people under the bus from West Memphis to Richmond. I tried my best to hopefully get it worked out, but after this past Friday, I finally exploded. I’m sure in 6 months it’ll be the same poop, but for now, it should be corrected. Time will tell.

We’ve discussed it and…
This story needs a better plot.
Not a six month cliff hanger.
(just kidding)

Got home yesterday morning. Wife and I are going over to Naples for a long weekend of R&R.

Delivered some stuff to a very very tight warehouse in a residential neighborhood in Albany, GA. Moseyed over to the brand new Loves afterwards. Grabbed a shower.
Got back in the truck, had a new load assignment waiting for me: Travel to a sugar plant in Bremen, GA. Gotta be there before 5:00pm.
It's 3hrs 47min from Albany to Bremen, because it's all back roads and small towns and no freeway. Would've had to leave 45 minutes before receiving the load assignment to make on-time delivery. Told 'em so on the macro, then put the truck in gear and headed that way. Called dispatch on the phone, told 'em what I'd just said on the macro: No possible way to make the shipper before 5:00. Soonest I can get there is 6:30.
Welp, turns out they got a very strict "we close at 5:00pm" policy. So they took me off the load and, since I hadn't gone but about a mile down the road, I took an overpass u-turn and came back to the Loves.
Hour later, phone rings. It's dispatch. They wanna know if I can make it to the shipper by 7:00.
"I could have an hour ago," I said. "But not now that I've been sitting for an hour. Soonest I can get there is 7:30."
So now they are theoretically looking for another load for me.
Given that it's Labor Day weekend, and given that I'm eating into my 14 at this point, I suspect I'm done for the day.Last edited: Sep 3, 2021

Spoke too soon. They gave me another load that I also cannot possibly make, either to the shipper on time OR the Wytheville drop yard on time.
However, since I'm hooking a pre-load that won't be ready until midnight and since this is Labor Day weekend, I suspect I've got some leeway.Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy, Finfn1372 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I want to wish all you folks that worked all year a Happy Labor Day, those that sat on their ### all year and collected a check, get a job and become a productive member of society.
