Right, the numbers aren't adding up to where they need to be at least the way things are going currently. My dispatcher said that this isn't typical and I should be making 5000 a week but with the way freight is right now it's just not happening. I will be getting a TWIC card in the mail shortly which will enable me to run port loads which are in abundance right now I was told and they pay pretty good apparently.
Update on truck buying and becoming independent.

watch the boards in Laredo
Usually decent stuff leaving but not sure if it’s staying local
maybe not possible where your on at? -
That's always in the back of my head. Trucks running great now but I know this will not always be the case and with the situation being as it is I am not able to put much money aside for repairs in the future. Not good. Hopefully, things will change when I get my TWIC card and will be able t run port loads that pay better.

If your company will book broker loads to fill the gap then get at least a $35 membership with Truckstop.com
that 1-2 loads a month might make the differencejoseph1853, Vampire, 86scotty and 1 other person Thank this. -
Im in the Waco area so Laredo is 5.5 hours away. I would most likely have to be out overnight to make it work but it is possible considering in Texas you have 12 hour drive time. I don't mind being out overnight here and there but try to keep it to a minimum considering my truck does not have an APU which would require me to idle all night decreasing my mileage and longevity of the truck def system and all.Rideandrepair and Willmann30 Thank this.

I've talked to him about that but he does not like working with brokers at all. He's been spoiled running contract freight and does not like to deal with all the bs you have to deal with working with brokers which I don't blame him. I've asked to get access to the load boards to get on and check out what's going on. He said that's fine but swears that there's no money in working with broker loads. I'm thinking I'm sure it's better than nothing.

Agreed
But lately even the load boards have had decent runs
I personally use them once in awhile and last week did a $4 PM load
Paid $1500 for part of a day
In those cases it works
Just remember
You don’t want all the runs.
Just the good onesVampire Thanks this. -
That's what I told him but he doesn't seem to believe they exist. Good paying broker loads that is.

You're taking home about a third of the max I've made in 1 week as a company driver while owning the truck, $3000k to the bank.
Another lease OP slave, BTW gonna have some real fun come break down time. The DEF box computer alone is $10,000 and is notorious for failing.The_Great_Corn, shooter19802003, Speed_Drums and 2 others Thank this. -
