This why I like my star cars. Good room and ride and just enough euro for fuel mileage, when I get my new Great Dane my 12 year old trailer will go hope they still offer top money for trade in.
Truck will be 5 years old soon. Hope it goes at least 15 yearsLast edited: Sep 8, 2021

I’ve had to back up to a dock once in 2021…

I dont have to bump docks like the other cool rides in this thread do but I do have to maneuver around chemical loading facilities and paper mills that where built in the 1970’s around short day cab trucks with 40’ tankers. Its some work at times but it aint no struggle like Dyno thinks it is. Oh and when I do have to back into a spot at a truck stop its a one time shot and only needed so Im not parking in the fuel island when I need to run in and take a leak n grab a burger. Otherwise I got lots of places to park that lots of others know nothing of.

I've only had to back up to a dock maybe half a dozen times in my life. Last time was 2010. I remember that trip well. Was one of the reasons I quit that job. I picked up a loaded trailer at a DC and delivered six stops to some discount stores. They were adamant about load locks and cargo nets. Being a normal tanker driver, I had none of that stuff on the truck. They threw a fit but left me leave. I got to the first stop, opened the doors and it looked like a bomb exploded. They took their sweet arse time unloading that first stop, which would've been about three pallets worth, but it was all just floor loaded. I spent two days on a 200 mile load, and made $150. That was it for me.
Oh, and in keeping with the theme of the thread, the second stop was typically done with day cab because it was really tight getting to the dock. When I looked at where I had to back in I figured there was no way I'd hit the dock. Took a bit of work with the sleeper truck I ran with a little 260 inch wheelbase, but I got it done.SL3406, Brettj3876, Roberts450 and 1 other person Thank this.
