I would think that the burnout rate for recruiters is quite high, it's got to be the equivalent to piece work on an assembly line! Every time I've applied back to Knight, I get a different recruiter and I always asked what happened to Chris, Terra, Jordan or whoever. I always get the answer that they moved on "other things in the company" at best and "I don't know" at worst.
My first was with Swift and I was talking to my recruiter after I was hired and he said that he doesn't waste time on less than motivated people who want to drive for Swift. He said you can tell serious from non committed pretty easily.
Normal for recruiter to basically ignore you?

Yeah, if they don't have the time or knowledge to answer your questions, part of their job description I believe, then it time to say "thanks, but no thanks". And tell them why, if they should ask.
-
If a recruiter isn't communicating with you, they're not lying. Treasure the moment.JoeyJunk, Sir Grouch and Lucky12 Thank this.

The only recruiter I talked to was very nice. We talked many times on the phone and I even went in and talked to him face to face for a while. He was very nice and was honest enough that I decided I didn’t want the job even though they all seemed like nice people. Finally I can’t work for peanuts either. (This wasn’t with the company your talking about. I was going to lease my truck on with a company.)

LOL true.
The recruiter finally got in touch with me via email. Apologized for the long delay and answered all the questions I had asked. Happened shortly after starting this thread here. Hmmm.

Recruiters often are not employees of the trucking company. They may be hired contractors who are paid per new-hire body they produce. They have no incentive orvreason to answer any questions, or answer honestly. If they were working for the US Army they would be happy to tell you that you can take Fridays off and nevet getbup before 8 a.m.
They lie, it's their job.JoeyJunk, Vic Firth, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
You are in the power position. They need you. Make them work for it. They are expecting you to give up everything and sleep in a box. Make them put you in contact with a working driver doing the work they arenhiring you to do. A recruiter is no more reliable or informed than a used car salesman. Don't sell your self too cheaply.Sir Grouch Thanks this.

I was in orientation a few weeks ago and was the only one of 4 to even show up. I asked about that and was told 'you'd be surprised how many Grandmothers Die the day before orientation " lol. Cold feet? Who knows
-
At my orientation several years ago when I fresh out of CDL school and coming on to my first company, there were 4 people scheduled for orientation, all of us being from different states. 1 didn't show up to orientation and no called no showed. The other failed the DOT physical that we had to get our 1st day of orientation (company wanted us to get new med cards) because his blood sugar was too high. 1 didn't last through training, I didn't hear the whole story but she wanted to go home during training and never came back. I was the only one that lasted to a year with that company (I actually stayed for 2 years).
I would say that is probably about average of what you see in this industry.tscottme, Lonesome and Sir Grouch Thank this. -
