How much does Halliburton pay new drivers?

    I'm toying with the idea of sending in applications to oil field work (Texas, NM) and trying to figure out if it's worth it financially. Not having to pay rent, and a 15/6 schedule is appealing.

    Not sure how dead set you are in remaining a trucker, and also not sure of your current health condition. But when you fill out your online app to Halliburton, you can apply that app to every single job they have posted. Since Halliburton is a cradle to grave company as far as the well is concerned, there's a TON of cool jobs there. You could start in frac, and move your way easily into consulting. You could go to wireline, baroid, drill bits, coiled tubing, I mean the list is basically endless, and you'll make six figures every year doing it. Great 401K match, and awesome benefits. Plus arguably the finest base training offered by any company with the possible exception of Schlumberger.

    You can't go wrong with either. Schlumberger and Hall both pretty much train the same. If you have half a brain you can move up pretty quickly, especially on the cement side. Idk much about the frac side other than moving pumps around and sandboxes for a little while. I did 3rd party work for schlumberger running their cement and unloading it in silos for the pump crew

    Those guys on the cement crew got a lot of F off time sleeping. Most of the time they were already out there all cabbed up sleeping when we were still loading the job. Being the low guy on the totem pole that was still a 85-90k a year(including the crap ton of OT) job for a bulk cement hand with great benefits. Hali is pretty much the same just different colors

    The downside of cement is being on call where frac your hours are set in stone most of the time with a few exceptions like wireline and coil. The plus side of cement if you show up on location and they're still circulating or tripping pipe it's nap time

    Unless you don't living in a man camp like that I'd rather have my own 5th wheel RV chasing the patch around.

    One down side of Schlumberger:

    I’m regular drinking buddies with an upper level manager at Schlumberger who is four years away from retirement. Schlumberger is requiring vaccination and pushing it hard. He doesn’t want to do it and has been dragging his feet but will probably be forced into it. He’d be giving up a ton of benefits…
