Want to give everyone an update. I spoke with the terminal manager at the fuel hauling gig. Told him I appreciated all he did and for being willing to give me a chance. However, the hometime was just more important to me and that I would have loved to join the team if the scheduling was better. He told me he understood and would keep me in mind if another truck became available in my area with a daytime opening (since there’s not many applicants in the area it’s a possibility I could get it). He also said in the meantime that when I was ready to leave to contact him again and he would see what’s available.
All in all it seems like I a made a good connection with him and I’m thankful for that. At least I have a sort of back up plan in the event I need it. If a daytime job opens, I just may take it. The hours wouldn’t be too much different as far as the time of day. So who knows what will happen. At the very least I was able to open a door of opportunity.
I want to thank every single person who chimed in and helped me. I don’t really have anyone in life to ask that has lived the trucking life before. Your input was critical in my decision making. I sincerely appreciate it.
To leave or not?
