Are most local/ city driving jobs going to be labor intensive?

You ask the hiring person and/or read the job posting.

 

Talk to the drivers. Or just watch them... If they look like they are having a good time then that’s a pretty good sign.

 

Avoid food or beverage service. Fuel delivery involves wrestling hoses. Dump trucks will probably be pretty easy if you don't mind the mess.

I would look for one of the mail contract haulers. Even if you have to load and unload, and I don't think there is much of that, the mail is loaded on rolling cages or totes that you just wheel around.

 

Line haul is the easiest; mostly terminal to terminal/drop & hook.

heaviest thing I lifted this week was one of those french toast breakfast sandwiches from pilot.

 

Not as a standard truck driver, usually the delivery route drivers are putting in physical labor.
