If you let the smoke out of the starter Or cables you’re in trouble. It’s hard to get it back in
-
Yeah, when the smoke seals go bad and let all the magic smoke out, you've got to get a new one.DieselTech_Aus Thanks this.

Need help with 3406e cat crank no start. 97 peterbilt 6ts cat.

Could you give a few more details to help narrow the possibilities.
Did this happen suddenly? Have you replaced any parts?
Could be fuel or could be a power supply problem -
I bought the truck not running. Previous owner said he dropped it off at the shop to remove blower/pto set up. After they removed it the truck would not start any more. It will run on either. I have checked power to the ecm (40pin) pin 4 & 6 have power. Checked the transfer pump also replaced the cam sensor check two in line fuses inside of the frame rail both are good even swapped out the ecm and still no fire.

Have you verified fuel pressure while cranking?
Do you get check engine light on dash when you first turn the key? -
It ran fine, got dropped off to remove pto/blower and now it doesn't run. I'd sure guess they screwed up a power supply or somehow fried the ecm or something
-
I don't have a fuel pressure gauge, but cracked the return line while cracking fuel is shooting out. Yes the check engine light comes on for a few seconds and shuts off. I checked the harness going into the head for the injectors none of the wires were hot. Should they be?
