What happened with Trimac?. I would try them first, but I have always been in favor of larger more well known companies than smaller unknown outfits.
At some point you just have to make the jump. If you are waiting for the perfect company you may very well miss out on good ones. -
Understood
Thanks again -
I was really giving Indian River serious thought as I'm both bored and frustrated where I'm at (I have to slip seat and share a truck) but now I may put it on hold to see what happens with Biden's vaccine mandate. Right now I'm with a small company of about 30 drivers, so we fall under the 100 employee threshold.

I got my second shot this past Thursday on September 16th at 9am. I felt pretty normal until 11pm that night. I ended up with a 101 temperature fever all of Friday with major body aches. It lasted about 24 hours. I woke up today (Saturday) with my temperature at 97.6 and felt normal again. I left home and drove to McAllen this evening.
I’ve been curious how Biden’s mandate will affect larger companies too. I assume it’ll end up at the Supreme Court eventually, maybe blocked by a district judge until then like some of Trump’s orders were. I got my vaccine on my own. It didn’t have anything to do with IRT or Biden’s policy.Voyager1968, Speed_Drums and Redtwin Thank this. -
I got the J&J back in May. Didn't have any negative symptoms after getting it that I noticed. I did find myself napping during the day a couple days after getting it which is unusual for me, but that could also be due to hanging out in a hotel room with nothing to do while my truck was in the shop.
I see vaccine mandates or laws or passports the same way I view all the other regulations, requirements and just general hoop jumping that we have to put up with to do this job. CDL, endorsements, Med card every two years, HOS, DOT inspections, random drug tests etc.
If any of it becomes a problem or too overbearing...park the truck and find something else to do. Pretty simple.Speed_Drums, Lonesome and Tanker_82 Thank this. -
Trucking is one of the very few things broken down old war horses can do to be productive members of society and make a decent living.
Your perception is inconsiderate.CorsairFanboy, 88 Alpha, slim shady and 3 others Thank this. -
Changing careers, or retraining in a new field may not be simple, but the decision that something no longer works for you or isn't worth the effort is a simple one. Has been for me anyway and I only speak for myself.
That simplicity only dawned on me much later in life. As a young man I would somehow see value in toughing things out in a situation I was unhappy with. Not anymore.Tanker_82 Thanks this. -
