Well I've already had my passport for 11 years now. And while I can understand 2400 miles a week is not the greatest for an OTR driver, the economy is still very much on the bad side, and also my last company I was OTR and there were times they couldn't even give me 2000 miles a week, way too much sitting around

Drove for them for three months, three months of hell. Hope you enjoy sitting every weekend, you'll get to learn that if your load drops on friday you'll wait till Monday for another one. Also every time you get a big milage load don't get use to it because they will take it away from you and make you wait another day for another load. And wait until you find out how much money you will "REALLY'' be making. Randy Marten is not a person to be trusted and hates drivers. Good luck to you, sorry you made this terrible choice.

Ok obviously it did not work out for you but you know what? Everytime someone leaves a company anymore, they have to paint it as the most horrible situation around. How do you know it will be a terrible choice? Looks like another one who just hopes the worst happens to anyone who goes to work for a company that they had a bad time at. I have news for you, I do SERIOUS research before I change jobs, I don't just jump into anything I see.

But like you're making it sound, I just made this awful choice on purpose. Sorry but attitudes like this really P### me off. I don't go around and tell everyone who decides to go to work for Werner, "oh you're gonna regret it, oh you're gonna sit, oh you made an awful choice." I don't believe in bad mouthing a former employer and wishing ill will on anyone that works for them. Why don't we wait and HEAR FROM ME down the road before we just assume that I will fail over here at Marten?

What he said isn't far off he is just warning you which I tried to do also. He didn't say much different than I did and I have been here 18 months.

Whatever. Again why don't we wait and see how I do before you all just assume I will fail over at Marten?

Ok you be the exception to the rule then. Sure can't find many positive posts about Marten on here anymore so was just trying to save you some heartache. I am still there so don't you think if I was lying I would talk all positive and try to recruit you so I can make $500.00? There is no way I would be responsible for letting someone come work here.

Ok you're right. How dare I think I can do good at Marten! You're absolutely right, I will call them Monday and cancel my orientation scheduled for this Tuesday in Indy and when they ask why I'll tell them because drivers say you are a terrible company and I will fail. Happy now? There, you're absolutely right, I will fail at Marten, how dare I think I could do good here.

You know there are negative posts on here about nearly every company but don't worry, I will call them and cancel my orientation and go look for that PERFECT driving job out here.

I apologize to anyone seeing my blowing up here... this thread was made so I could let everyone know how I am doing at Marten. Do I think they will be perfect? No. Do I think there will be bad times? Of course. I just don't like it when people come on and tell someone they are destined to fail at a new employer.

Looneytoon, Ignore those nay sayers. I've been here 4 month's and believe it to be a good choice. I don't set every wkend. In fact I have only set 2 wkends. But in this economy you will do that with every company. Any one who thinks otherwise needs to wake up. I have never been asked to run illegal. I told my dispatcher up front that would never happen and I won't do it. I always have to laugh at the geniuses who say "They forced me" lol WHAT? Some one sitting there with a gun to your head? No one forced you to do a thing. You choose to do it. I don't and I run 2800 a week. I have never seen a load to NYC and I don't do Canada. I get my pay on time and right every time. I do my job and do it right. I have a good truck that I take good care of. They let you plan your routs and your fuel stops.

Run it like it's yours. As a O/O the 1st rule is don't waste money. Plan the best rout for time as well as miles. The shortest rout may not be the fastest rout. And your log book runs off of time. Who would you give the good loads to? The driver who is willing to drive an extra 50-60 miles but can get it there in 8hrs. Or the one who takes the shortest rout he can find. No matter the road and takes 12hrs to del the same load. Plan your fuel stops. Buy it cheap. Don't go to the N.E. without fueling in IN or OH 1st. To many drivers run with the attitude " It's not my money or my truck so why should I care." They fuel in the wrong places and take the wrong routs. They want to idle all the time and never take care of the truck. Then they wonder why the company has this rule or that rule. I found out a long time ago. Run it like you own it and you will do much better. Companies love drivers who do every thing they can to up that profit line. You up there's and they will run you. Which will up your's.

I think your user name says it all. We only wish you the best at Marten. When I went to work for them I also posted what a wonderful company they were and other drivers reminded me that I should wait and drive for them first before I passed judgement. Good Luck, you'll need it.
