or guard rail on the side.

Yes, it legal.
For a time it wasn't, but it is now.Diesel Dave, c.w and Kyle G. Thank this. -
If you get written up for it is is usually because you may have done something stupid and they are just writing up as many things as they can think of. Or they are in a bad mood and writing up as much as they can think of.
You crossed a restricted bridge or road. You will be hit with things you didn't know existed. Even if they are not valid or just, they will try to give it to you.
Is like the old saying "kill them all and let god sort them out"...
Its "write them up for anything and let their lawyer sort it out." -
Just fond a trailer ,it was old western trailer, with no hole and no guard rails.
if it is legal, tarping would be hard to do, because tarp is gonna to be protrude from deck?skellr Thanks this. -
Carry the green book with you and when they try to write u up for some stupid #### tell em to show you where its at in the rules. Puts a stop to that crap real quick.Lite bug, cke, shooter19802003 and 3 others Thank this.

Have you actually tried that? Just curious if this might be why the MT DOT seems to have a hardon for you???
-
They try to play every angle here. One guy tried to write me up for having a strap outside the rub rails. Which is perfectly legal and the green book backed me up on it.cke, Cat sdp, shooter19802003 and 2 others Thank this.

I remember when it used to be no termination to rubrail, stake pockets and spools.

Yeah, I’m not sure anyone in any branch of law enforcement ever appreciates being shown up.Cattleman84 Thanks this.
