Does being a state trooper really pay that well?
-
In MA, absolutely pays incredibly well.
Lived there for 48 years and still have many friends who are Troopers.
Local Police officers are always looking for an invitation to the State Police Academy. -
Almost all states have starting pay scales up online. This LINK has some! I can't guarantee any of this information is good!

If the link works, salaries are posted..scroll down.

Dozens Of Massachusetts State Police Troopers Resigning Over COVID Vaccine Mandate, Union Says
From the article:
"To date, dozens of troopers have already submitted their resignation paperwork, some of whom plan to return to other departments offering reasonable alternatives such as mask wearing and regular testing."Last edited: Sep 28, 2021
God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
Maybe so but, probably just the ones that needed an excuse to retire.
As a side note..most of these mandates I’ve read of say/ require weekly covid tests or vaccine. In short if they don’t want to be tested weekly or get the vaccine..then quit.
A couple dozen out of well over 2k Troopers. -
I wrote an email to someone I know that works for CVSA. This person is more knowledgeable about what is happening with the MSP. So far no answer and it may be tomorrow before I got one. I only have his work email!

As per the union rep on the news this morning the Mass state troopers at full staff is about 2900 officers. Thier current staffing is only about 1900.Truckermania, God prefers Diesels and Rubber duck kw Thank this.

I was reading THIS news story and wanted to share it and opine on it! let me be 100% clear here! I don't want to see a single person leave the force! What I think I see happening though is these troopers may not be planning to actually resign! They may be attempting to set up a legal strategy for later by forcing the MSP to in fact fire them. Give this some serious thought! If you walk off your job you give up a lot of legal rights! If though you stay on the job and force their hand you maintain ALL your rights! I do agree with this information as it relates to so far only one has resigned. It makes perfect sense! I have seen no information as of yet where any of these Troopers have taken the jab! If this situation stays this way, well the next move will be the MSPs to make!
