This is a 34,000 lb coil. 2 cross-chains, 2 u-chains. And a strap over the top. 26,800 WLL of securement. This is technically "over secured"

For the weight of the cargo, it's oversecured. But not for the nature of the cargo, in my opinion. What I mean is if the strap and all four chains went over the top, that would be one thing. But since it's secured through the middle, but the cargo moves from the outside, you now have leverage against the chains. So due to the nature of how a lever works, that 34k can now put way more than 34k against the chains. You can't get a nut loosened with your breaker bar? Put on a cheater pipe. Now you can put the same force against it, but it translates to way more torque against the nut. Same thing here. Since the mass is rolling along the outer layer of the coil, it can put way more force against the chains than it normally could.
Now that's just how it works in my head. Tell me if I'm right, or full of it.NavigatorWife and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
LOL you loaded it shotgun. All the training I have had said never to load it shotgun. The coil should be parallel to the frame.
I am happy for you if you got it there as you have it loaded. -
Couldn't get my eyes off the microphone background!

If given the choice, I'll seldom choose suicide over shotgun, and certainly not a single big coil. Just a preference.
