We are having issues with our truck it all started Monday when driving it from one yard to another, when driving the truck lost power and when our driver stopped in the intersection it died.

Now when we start it it will idle for different lengths of time and then the check engine light will come on then the engine protect while it sputters and dies.

I have taken the ECM to a detroit shop to have it checked and they said everything checked out fine.

So we found a leaking oil pressure sensor and replaced it, still no change. Then we checked all fuses in the dash as well as the ones at the behind the drivers seat. All have checked out okay, Checked the low coolant sensor and it works replaced the hight temp coolant sensor and still nothing has helped.

I am unable to locate the PDM on this truck, it is not on the firewall on the drivers side and from what I have seen the one behind the drivers seat doesn't look like one either.

The truck does not store any codes at all.

    Please help!

I think the engine will only quit when the oil level is very low, coolant is out, and a couple more things. if all those things are good, then the sensor is bad at one of those points or the wiring harness is bad.

So here is our dilemma, we have replaced the oil pressure sensor and the coolant temperature sensor as well. We still get a no EnG on the dash. The truck will not start now at all and the check engine light does not shut off.

We have checked and there is power going to the ECM as well. It is really looking like it is the PMC to us but on the Columbia day cabs this is part of the fuse panel and costs $1,400.00 to replace. Also is a Freightliner part only so I am thinking of taking it freightliner for them to check it out.

If no codes are being stored, I would suspect checking PWR, GND, IGN, DATA to the modules. A poor IGN circuit can behave similar in function.

When checking these circuits, be sure to do pin drag test AND load test the circuits. A simple continuity check will mask certain failures.

I know this is an old thread but looking for help. Have a 2006 Columbia series 60. What is the plug called in the fuse panel with the bolt in the center? Not a picture of mine but I shorted out and melted the bottom right 3 or 4 of the terminals in this plug. What’s the best way to go about fixing this? Thinking I need a new panel and new plug end
