You're assuming that KW won't tack on additional charges before you take delivery that will equal any profit you would make. Other's have noted here that Peterbilt is already doing that on trucks that were ordered a while ago. I don't blame manufacturers for raising prices after orders were placed. Pricing for parts must be changing almost daily right now.

There is also a price contract and deposit taken from their buyers. If T680 is 25% higher than the original price, that would not be so much because of money in the circulation but speculative opportunity. I am a little worried that when the collapse happens and orderes are withdrawn, the adjustment of prices for trucks and parts won't be as quick.

Guy in Houston has one of those posted on marketplace for 70k
TallJoe Thanks this. -
I paid $75k for my new Utility reefer in 2019. The reefer has less than 2,000 hours on it, and the trailer is still like new. I can probably get what I paid for it at the moment.
Truckermania Thanks this. -
Wouldn't be surprised if you got more
86scotty, SteveScott and 59EX Thank this. -
I know someone who is making a nice pile of cash who ordered a gang of trailers some months back. Only wish I’d done the same! He saw what was happening and made a smart call.
I think I’m going to order 3 reefers and 3 to 5 vans from the company I got my last reefers thru. Why and the hell not? I’ll email him tomorrow and see what he says. Back in the spring he got 3 reefers built for me on super short notice (about a month), but obviously conditions are even worse right now. I’ll report back when I get news.PPLC, Lostkeys, SteveScott and 1 other person Thank this. -
Oh, and I just want to say that Colorado is absolutely dreadful for freight. I don’t think we’ll ever be back. Thank God we got the 6k going in or it would have been a total disaster. Still was a good size mistake.

I usually load for Aurora when I’m planning on going home. What we take in pays good enough for me to bounce back to the house and then get a load out when I’m ready to go back to work.
PPLC and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Midwest Trucker Thanks this.
