It sounds like they want drivers to pick up loads in the dark of the night when those loads can't deliver until late afternoon.
Who in their right mind is going to send a driver in at 0300 for a load that goes 100 miles and can't deliver until 1300?
It doesn't matter if the port is running 24/7 if the cross docks aren't as well. I guarantee you that if carriers could keep the trucks moving with the ports extended hours, they would take advantage of it. On the account I'm running we could have delivered another 6 loads today but we would have had to bobtail out after dropping. If we had delivered the loads like the customer wanted, we would have had to bobtail back into the consignee at some point to reposition the empty trailers. Why would I eat 100 miles of deadhead when I can just wait until normal business hours?God prefers Diesels, Coffey, ProfessionalNoticer and 3 others Thank this. -
It's kinda like the fake news there's no chassis. Place I delivered to up in Hayward last week, the facility across the street must have at least 2500 of them in their yard.
It's all just BS so Zingping's merchant fleet doesn't find it's way to the bottom of The Pacific.God prefers Diesels, Coffey, ProfessionalNoticer and 1 other person Thank this. -
China exports goods, we export dollars... Without the dollar we have very little to offer.
Coffey Thanks this. -
This is all fine and well for the cross dock stuff, but, this doesn't account for the PSR BS of the railroads and trains running either behind or 3/4 full forcing delays on the dray companies further in.

Couldn't carriers split their trucks temporarily into a day shift and night shift. Night shift can pickup containers and drop them in the carrier's yard overnight, making multiple short runs. Day shift comes and starts delivering them to locations, also making multiple short runs. That way, picking up the containers hours before they can be delivered wouldn't be an issue.
