Hubby called FMCSR (ya'lls little green book) to be accurate on logging line 1 personal use of the truck. They told him only short distances, ie; to a store or something of that nature, or from the terminal home, and at NO time can you have a trailer while flagging start and stop time of driving off duty on line 1.
Thought I would share this info with you allHope it's helpful

When you say "flagging", do you have to note your driving/use when you're off duty and running to the store or home?
Diesel_Smurf Thanks this. -

Well i have also spoken with fmcsr about the personal conveyance rule and ask them " If i get permission from the company can i drive my rig from Pittsburgh pa to Disney world in fl under personal conveyance rule"
the officer on duty stated that yes i can as long as when i return to work at the nearest terminal. The problem with the rules is interpretation by so many different people each person who is supposed to be able to interpret these rules clearly are not consistent with the information disseminated to the people who will feel the wrath of the on highway officer interpretation of the rules. you have as many interpretations as you have officers and drivers.
The best thing to do is to park and hire a taxi or ask an officer to transport you back and forth (i can imagine the response from the leo)
future driver, dieselbear, Wiseguywireless and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well the man hubby talked to said it can not be long distances, you can not drive from Pittsburgh to Fl, because hubby wanted to know if he could do so from Pa to Ga, he said no, it was to be logged. the distance was to great. And you can not even use your truck even if it is not leased onto a company, as a personal vehicle to take trips in with a loved one without logging it, and stopping to log a 10 hour break after 11 hours drive total out of 14 hours. And you have to be careful as well the man said, because if your dispatcher routes you home, then you are then considered "under dispatch" and under no circumstances can you flag line one as personal vehicle, driving off duty while under dispatch. He was kind enough to look it up and read to hubby what the rules say exactly, (the part that is left out of the little green book, grrr) Just do not want any of you guys and gals gettin tickets for flaggin line 1 on to great a distance. We were trying to figure this one out so i called up a virginia weigh station to talk to an officer there, yup he was a butt about it lol. but he was trying to say you can never flag line 1 unless you go to a store only short distances, he did not know you can go from the terminal home on line 1, be careful through there, they like writing tickets for it there. -
Like when you flag normally, just put city and state, and write "Personal Conveyance" You do not need to write to store or to home. Good question though

You can if it's not registered as a CMV. It can be used for such if it's registered as a RV.
