Can anyone tell me the process of port trucking, moving containers? I may be moving to Virginia where there are multiple shipyards and wanted to know how this works and if they pay by the container.
thank you

There's a whole section here just for port roaches. If you like making less than employee wages and with tons more responsibility You’ll love it.
shooter19802003 Thanks this. -

With your own authority or leasing to a carrier? I lived in Virginia beach up until a few years ago, the shipyards in Norfolk have nothing to do with containers, you're probably thinking of the container terminals VIG in Portsmouth and NIT in Norfolk.Speed_Drums and wis bang Thank this.

How much does your best run pay you total (gross)? What are the pick/drop zips?
-
With my own Authority. I use to live there and I use to see all the containers going from one place to the next. Maybe I was thinking about the Newport News shipyard
-
That will do. If that's the case, it's not for me.
Thanks -

Those seem to be good rates to me. What am I missing?

Those are only loaded mile rates. Gonna be coming back empty so take that per mile figure and cut it in half.Brettj3876 and ProfessionalNoticer Thank this.
