Oil consumption. What brand of oil y’all recommend

They make some oil I believe Valvoline is the maker of it. It is supposed to help with oil consumption.

It's expensive to say the least, but some claim it does work.

Instead of using Lucas oil additive some folks use 80-90 gear oil.

 

What oil are you using now?

I switched to Delo from Rotella. Noticed slightly less consumption but it was never terrible before

 

I use Rotella 15 40. I buy my oil from Walmart. If they are out of Rotella, I buy Delvac. If you are using 6 gallons an oil change, you are not going to slow it down much if at all. Unfortunately your engine is worn out. Especially if you are using a 1/2 gallon in the first 1k after an oil change. After an oil change oil is its thickest as it hasn't started to break down and become thinner. When oil consumption starts on an engine it is usually around 10k.

 

If you're using that much, you're going to fry your after treatment system.

I sold my '12 Cascadia with an ISX that had 750K on it, and the kid has it up to 800K now.

All original. Would use a gallon at about 10K to 12K.

Always had an APU. Idling kills these engines. In '16 they updated the pistons with an extra ring. You'll get those when you overhaul.

Changed oil and filters every 20K.

 

I wouldn't use that if you paid me. It's like water.
