A little simple research goes a long way.

GA charges $3 per vehicle for the sticker and the license.

Base IRP registration is calculated the same way regardless of state. Age is not a factor in IRP. However GA also includes GA (county) ad valorem taxes in the registration cost, which is where the model year affects the total cost of the plates. Each base state can impose charges in addition to the cost of the IRP fees.

In NC they send us a property tax bill three months after registration and it can be quite a surprise to find out how "valuable" my trucks are. More than once I've tried to talk them into buying one for half of what they say it's worth but that never worked. My 98 FTL century in 07 was still listed as worth 56K. I got it revalued but that took nearly nine months to accomplish.

I think OOIDA (Owner Operator in Mo) would help you if you're a member. It's not hard to do. If you have your IFTA returns, you can use the mileage off of them, otherwise you just have to add up all miles for each state you ran in for the period they want you to report, and put them down on the form. The IRP office will probably help you if you have questions.

So if i'm following all of this correct, your Appointed Tag comes from your state capitol. What comes from your county tag office then? Is it just your trailer tag that comes from your county tag office or do you do nothing at all with your county, and everything is at state level?

You can get your trailer tag at either the county office or IRP, it's your choice.
