Wouldn't be the first time. Cops are human like me and you.
It's like getting a no insurance ticket because you pay online and don't have a paper copy yet.
Sure he can write the ticket and then gets to look stupid in front of the judge, if they show up at all.
Or having a deputy make an illegal stop and having a lawyer send a nice letter to his supervisor.

Don't let someone push you around because they have a badge. That leads to tyranny and the absolute pile of law enforcement that we have now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I highly recommend people subscribe to the "audit the audit" youtube channel. The guy takes actual police citizen interactions and breaks them down grading both the cop and citizen in their actions/reactions and general conduct. Very interesting.

Problem with ata is he gives the "auditor" a pass almost always, no matter how wrong they are. Even when he can't defend the actions with legal precedent he will still give them an A.
I want to like the channel, but his biases get in the way too often.

I've found him to be very fair. And he uses tons of actual laws to back up his ideas.

end of the day, when ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it but there are literally millions of laws and regulations, it's an unfair, unjust, uneven playing field where the State and their cronies (cops, inspectors, bureaucrats) have the upper hand over regular folks like you and me.

Remember, courts have given immunity protections to, and I quote "two cops who allegedly stole $225,000 while executing a search warrant, more than 24 cops who damaged an innocent man's house during a drug raid on the wrong residence, cops who shot children, and cops who used force against subdued suspects and those who had surrendered".

So my advice to you all is to stop arguing about how "petty" it is that govt' employees with near absolute immunity to being held accountable are playing games. You're better off just accepting that the entire system of law and law enforcement is completely rigged and unjust, and there will likely be no meaningful reform in our lifetime. Historically, we actually have it better than most humans who have ever lived.

America is NOT the land of the free, it IS however a land where you can earn a living, so long as you are somewhat lucky, and don't tick off the state or their employees! Whew, that's my rant for this month!

I wonder what would happen if you are pulled over and asked to go out of your way to the scale, and you refused?

Back when I was hauling logs, I was pulled over and just stopped in the middle of the road because the shoulder was questionable and I was loaded very top heavy. Trooper ordered me to pull onto the shoulder, which I refused. He was mad as heck, but finally told me just to go on.

so many states have a limit on how many miles you can be ordered to redirect to the nearest scale house. I believe it's listed in the rand-mcnally truck atlases... 5-15 miles if I recall is the average range states allow...

you were smart to refuse to move onto that iffy shoulder. if you had, and the truck tipped over, that cop would likely have been granted immunity at court, so you wouldn't be able to sue him or his department for damages or anything like that. To top it off, *you* could get in trouble for causing an incident. better to refuse, and if he tickets you, take it to court and hopefully the judge is reasonable.

I haven't seen that bias. In fact, I have found his analysis to be fair.

What you may be considering bias is the different standards applied. Joe Citizen is held to one standard, but those who have taken an oath to uphold the law and the Constitution are held to a higher standard, as it is literally their job to know the laws better than the average citizen. I have seen plenty of episodes where the "auditor" is graded "F" nd the cops given an "A."

I agree. I find him very fair and although most laws he quotes don't have anything to do with me and the state I'm in, I've learned a lot from him.
