This is exactly what I have been seeing in my lanes?
Same guys still there that were there before I got there after a 10 hour break?
And your spot on about the early parking.
Some of truck stops I frequent can be almost full at 3:30 in the afternoon.
Thank god I run mostly the same lanes and have my secret hiddy holes I can use in a pinch.

Probably the guys who insist on running recaps congesting up the lot.
I’ve come across a number of guys who would rather ration their hours out over the 8 days so they don’t have to reset. -I’ve never understood it. -
I’m curious why you think running recaps would congest the lot more than guys taking resets? What’s your math behind that? I’m asking for a friend that hasn’t seen a reset in four months.
-
If you get paid by the load like one gig I had it makes plenty of sense.
Best job I had was working 7-8 hrs a day to run 3 loads of crude oil for $400 a day, running off of recaps meant I could work every day. -
Where else would these guys be sitting?
-
Same place the guys taking a 34 out on the road are sitting.... Usually at the truck stop.
Running a recap vs. running out your 70 can mean less sitting at the end of the week, if it wasn't for something called real life. In real life with appointment time it really depends on the lane to know if one is sitting more on a 34 or recaps. -
I’d imagine guys taking resets are typically not taking the truck home with them, so a truck stop would be a likely place to go. The guys running recaps may even spend more nights at shippers/receivers, or on a street next to them. But it’s all speculation and doesn’t change one bit the general lack of proper parking in many areas.ZVar Thanks this.

I guess I’ve been fortunate enough that, that kind of real life doesn’t occur so often and to the point where running hours on a recap basis made sense. -I have before but very rare.
I can agree with you that it depends on the operation. I was referring to those doing longer hauls that chose to only put in about 8.75 hours a day.
For someone sitting at shippers or receivers for extended periods frequently, yeah a recap can make sense. -
I am still buffaloed as to why with elpgs we still need resets at allLast edited: Oct 24, 2021
Phantom Trucker Thanks this. -
They should have mandated electronic monitoring for anybody paid with public money before they imposed e-logs on truck drivers.
