Hey man. I am doing Orientation with KLLM Atlanta on the 12 of this month. I have been offered a place with Werner and Stevens that I also applied to but of all of the info I have from people who know the company wether driving, working with etc it sounds like a great company. But I am a realist and I know that every company is going to ahve its down side and I have geard a couple about KLLM but you have to try to get along with your boss even if they are complete jacka&%'s.

I was supposed to have orientatiopn on the 28th of Dec with KLLM but my recruiter call ed me and told me that I was mover to Jan 12th. Thats ok with me. The good companies are filling up fast and from what I understand KLLM only hires at certain times. If you can get on board be patient. The HAZMAT thing is because they are getting into more and more HAZMAT type stuff. The problem is with the Patriot Act more and more substances are on the list Of Reportable Quatities. So it getting hard to haul anything without a HAZMAT Certification. I went back and studied the manual and took the test for HAZMAT and Tanker. 93.3 on HAZMAT and 100 on Tanker. I am ready to drive anything. Companies realy like you more if you have the HAZMAT AND Tanker.

Hey Toad. I am going to start Orientation with KLLM Jan 12th. My only question is based on what I have heard about the trucks. If they are about a year and a half lease, what is the age or condition of the trucks that the rookies get. Most companies are not going to give a new truck to a rook. And I can dig that. But I have seen the crap some comapnies give their rooks and they are crap. What is the deal? I appreciate the help in advance. New York Red Neck.

NewYork Red Neck...... I'll tell you this much. When I finished with my Trainer and got my upgrade, I was assigned a Freightliner Columbia that was about a year old and had about 100,000 miles on it. The guy who had it before me wasn't very clean and was a smoker. But once I got it home and cleaned it up, it was a very nice truck. Plus they had just done the periodic maintenance on it, as they will yours before it is assigned to you. Most of the KLLM trucks are never over a couple of years old for the most part, because alot of them are going to the lease program or being circulated back to sell and replace. They're pretty good about keeping their tractors up and I never saw any ragged out P.O.S.'s while I was there. I'm sure you'll get a decent truck.

Yeah, just finished my first week solo, started Christmas eveand was assigned a Cascadia, cleaned in the Jackson yard, with 151k miles on it and have run 2436 miles in first seven days. Jackson to Indiana, then to Virginia, then to Atlanta and delivering New Year's eve morning near New Orleans.

Don't count your chickens. I haven't had a POS truck ever sense I started out. Hell, my last one was even a brand new Century. Road like a POS but it was brand new. Back in the day, story was they liked to give the new truck's to new guy's so the new guy's would get stuck working the kink's out before swapping and passing them on to the more seasoned drivers but that's just the word down the grape vine. Personally I wouldn't care to have another brand new truck because they are a pain in the ### to deal with when stuff constantly start's going wrong. Cascadia? They can burn that garbage. I really wouldn't want anything newer than an 07'. Really I wish we could go back t the old mechanical style truck's without the #### computers and BS. That's when a truck and truckin' was really truckin'. They've done made it so #### easy that even a caveman can drive one now with beveled gear's and ####. Try an older model pete or kw with a two stick 18 speed, loud pipe's and have to scream over the motor to talk to the person next to you. Now that's truckin'!

Got my DAC in the mail today. F.F.E actually left me with a good report. Marten and F.F.E have me on the Re-hire list after review. F.F.E only posted one accident listed as non preventable sense I was backed into while on my break. Got my release form sent off to KLLM so waiting to see what they have to tell me Monday. Hoping I can get away with not having to have my Haz-Mat and allow me to go to work and get it. If they do take me I'll be there as soon as they have a class open.

Well for some "odd" reason KLLM has rejected my app. Recruiter told me it was either by safety or personal for unknown reason. Couldn't tell me anything else.
