I wonder if this will work through the roof/wall skin of a dry van? Seems like it would since our phones work in buildings and cars. I'll be trying something like this on my new trailer but it has to be hidden or it's useless IMO.
Consignor gave my trailer away.

Well it's almost 10:00 AM Eastern. This story should have an outcome shortly. Don't do anything until I go get my bowl of cereal and come back to the computer....

All of the new trailers we used to pick up with trailer tracking devices were very compact affairs in the inside upper front corner of the trailer. Some sort of little battery inside that was charged anytime the clearance lights were lit. The antenna was outside, which functioned as the GPS and transmitter to a cell phone network. It was part of the clearance or tail light assembly, almost indistinguishable from a standard led clearance light. I am sure they are available aftermarket. Advantage is the average thief wouldn't know that the trailer even has a tracking device.

I am still a little fuzzy on why a guy would hook up to an empty that was not his no matter what the shipper told him

LMAO.. your funny.
Had one of our company guys do that. Got loaded and down the road. We were sharing a drop yard and knew the owner. Called him and paid him a rental fee.Pamela1990 Thanks this. -
So I recieved my trailer back today. Reciever blames broker, says not responsible for trailer pool. Broker ignoring calls and emails. Carrier caused minor damage to rear of NEW 2022 Strick Dryvan. Looks like he turned too soon and brushed a pole. Carrier refused to sign delivery reciept because I noted the damage. Reciever refused to sign because it's "not their policy". I'm waiting on deputy to call back to see if there's anything else I need to do before continuing down the road.
Just getting all my ducks in a row before I file.SL3406, Pamela1990, Midwest Trucker and 6 others Thank this. -
Lol just read some comments. I didn't get the trailer back until closer to noon. I got pictures of driver pulling my trailer, and close ups of dot and Mc info. Pictures of damage and reported to his dispatch who of course claims "was like that before".
Pamela1990 Thanks this.
