That is a tough situation . im glad you werent hurt. Anytime you leave the roadway in a big truck. Death is a high possibility. I think you did the right thing. Just sounds like wrong place wrong time type of deal.

Driver B is at fault, and any lawyer worth their weight in salt would win that argument in court. Were you going too fast for conditions? That depends on far too many factors. And like channel 19 at the truck stop, everybody on here is an angel that would never dare do anything wrong...ever. So I won't fault you for going the speed limit as I would have most likely been doing it too. But the bottom line is that the dump truck was blocking the travel lanes. He failed to yield the right-of-way, and then further exasperated the issue by having to back up to complete his maneuver. Did you have a dashcam?

Unfortunately, it's your word against his then. At least he admitted to blocking traffic. Idiot. Never admit to anything after an accident!

You can be honest and not admit to anything. There is even an amendment in one of this countries foundation documents.
It's the 5th amendment in case that wasn't obvious.

Ultimately, it's our responsibility to be able to stop in time for whatever reason. It could have been a school bus stopped for children, a stalled vehicle, or a number of other things.

Driver A is driving too fast for conditions speed limit is the max speed for a clear dry day . If you can’t stop in your visible range you’re going too fast. Least that’s what Canadian cops say.

Not to say you're a bad driver & not to insinuate someone else wouldnt do the exact same thing but... the accident speaks for itself because you were driving too fast to stop in time to avoid a hazard... so, too fast for conditions. Glad nobody got hurt
