I'm currently parked in front of a big sign "ONE TON WEIGHT LIMIT EXCEPT LOCAL DELIVERIES" (im legal, im in line at a grocery warehouse where im probably going to be forced to pay for a lumper)
ONE TON? Are you SERIOUS? It's a residential area, how do people get to their houses? Do you realize how much ONE TON is? My car (1990 volvo 245DL) weighs 3600lb, almost two tons. So you're telling me my car is too heavy for this road?
It doesnt say "trucks over one ton prohibited", it just says "one ton weight limit".
Wouldnt it make more sense to just say "no trucks except local deliveries?"
STUPID weight limit!

That is pretty stupid.

Weight limits on residential areas are done by axle....
-
and generally only apply to commercial vehicles.

There is a place I picked up at once in TN off of I-40. Don't have a truckstop directory handy, but there is a petro there at that exit. Kingston Springs maybe? Any way it was call shipper for directions. West bound get off at petro turn right. I was told you will see no truck signs ignore them. You have to come this way to get to us. I seen about 3 no truck signs. Trucks can not turn left etc. I followed these directions and was in a little town or community. Made a tight left turn (no trucks) had to curb do to my spread.
Then I get up to the last intersection I am suppose to turn at. I see a sign Absolutely no big trucks do not turn left here. I look left and there is the little plant where I am picking up at. Only way into this place... what the heck????

Had the same thing in Chicago going to a plant. The road I turned on said no trucks on every block.
I came to a stop. The mailman walking the sidewalk kept waiving me on.
Kept going and was nervous the whole way. It really was the only way in. -
Been to a couple places like that in Jersey. I just figured it was because they were all idiots out there.
-
lol my car (mitsubishi 3000gt) weighs 4300lbs empty. Would be funny to get an overweight ticket in that.
But to add on to places with dumb signs. I picked up at a place in Chicago with signs that said weight limit 5 tons. It was the only road in and out of the place. -
I saw a sign in Ohio some where south of Defiance a few years ago that said "Trucks, No Air brakes allowed"!

That was an eye opener and got a big WTF out of me! How did they expect us to stop! Went back through there a few months later and they changed the sign to read "Trucks, No engine brakes allowed."
That's more like it! -
Yeah.. seen a few down in MS. 55,000lb limit. :eek3: I'm bringing 75,000 gross of chicken out of a plant.

Oh well.
