Howdy y’all,
Read tons of forums here, seems the 6nz is the motor I want to go with, but I’d really like to stay 99’ and before. Did they make any model year 99 6nz C15s? Seen one person talk about one, but I can’t find any information or any for sale for the life of me.
Thanks for the future replies!
Question about 379 with 6NZ? Can't find a 99 or lower model.

99 should be a 2ws. My 2000 that was built in dec of 99 had a 2ws in it. Anything is possible but it should be a 2ws. By 2001 they should all be 6nz afaik
Roger McG, singlescrewshaker, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have a 6NZ in a 2000 KW. The build date of the engine is 12/23/99, and the vin is 04780 or something like that, so they were built at least a bit before then.
Edit to add: There must have been some overlap between 2WS and 6NZ.singlescrewshaker and Duane0428 Thank this. -
There were a few 99 model 6NZ’s. There is always over lap between the serial number breaks. Really there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to what build gets what motor.
The 6NZ isn’t the end all be all that it’s hyped up to be. For all the updates to the front cover I sure have fixed plenty of them that were leaking. It’s no better than a 2WS in my opinion. An MBN can be made a good motor with programming and turbo changes. I wouldn’t pass on a 40 E model either the 1LW’s were as reliable as anyNightWind, singlescrewshaker, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -
Honestly, the more research I've done, I'd almost call the 2ws the better engine looking down the road, given how much stronger I've read the block to be.
