Meat Loaf dinner was real good. My wife makes just like Grandma used to. About the only meat loaf I like. Now I’m waiting for White Heat starring James Cagney. She’s in for a surprise, Lol.

How ever, I could not. To sit in a truck on I65; from say the KY scales at TN line, on to exit for Bluegrass Parkway I would slam dam go comatose. Truck cut to say 68, radar loaded for sides and front end, cruise control and plenty of power, and DRONE, DRONE, DRONE... I will be cruising at 72-76 in a Dodge pick up now going to Lexington to visit. Center lane and varying with catching others and terrain in places. Swift and etc, drone on. I have some variance to adjust too, Truck that hit state line with me is toddling along DRONE DRONE. Terrain does vary for him, but ones I have paced seem to snort right on upgrade at the prescribed 68 . How do you stay awake/alert/body shifting for comfort.
Old days (not advocating going back) we punched it on flat ground, used the coast gain to hit the next hump off the governor, clutched and shifted the lever and body hundreds of times in a hundred miles. Kept active, though finally tiresome. But to shift up (if non automatic). set cruise, and "be conveyed" to Lex
is weird for me.
Another thing to further show my aged disconnect...what is with the tach readings? Bumped it to see how much governor I had on the old gas, and to see what it sounded like at the red line on diesel. After a few miles/hours in some varying country, shifted it by exhaust sound/cab vibrations. Only watched the tach when pulling down on a long grade to not lug and blow a head gasket, trying to make it over in same gear.. Do people actually drive along, eyes on tach, ah. I'm at XXXX so go to 10th. Or darn ..pulled down to xxxx, gotta drop to 9th. Eyes on tach, who is looking thru the windshield. (End of stupid confession.)LoboSolo, LoSt_AgAiN, stuckinthemud and 9 others Thank this. -
