Yes it will go to 28 at high rpms than wastegate will opens to keep overr boosting. This ECM have something people call Passing HP. If i get on hwy from dead stop i can get 31 psi but than it will go down to 28psi.
    Here is thread about that
3406E derate power after 5 minutes in top gear

I could kick it out of gear for like 10-15 seconds than hammer it, it will gain that 3psi and lose it again after a few minutes

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Did you do a proper break in for the engine to set the seats ?

That would have a lot to do with it in my opinion.

I've never heard of such a thing, at least not on an older cat. You sure it's not sure cutting fuel due to high IAT? Or something of that nature?

Belive me i tried different scenarios, on winter ,summer, hot or cold, same cut in boost after a few minutes. Nothing wrong with 28 psi just piss me off that i know it can run 31psi on same settings. Even afger overhaul same thing, 28 is max. Well i do have extra switch with 12v seledoid that can disable wastegate and all betts are off, 35 psi but dont run that way, just for fun switch. The way it works on low bost like 3psi i flip switch and that shut off any air comming ftom turbo to wastegate
I was testing two brands of those valves that are open when off, most of that kind valves out there are closed when off. On these pics i had installed two different brand but one hooked to the turbo

So, in that other thread they mentioned parameters being set to allow full horsepower for a short time and then a bit of a derate.

Probably a stupid question, but have you had it on ET to see what parameters are set at?

I did but local KW dont know much about older cats like 3406E. They keep saying there inst much to be adjusted. I have to take it to cat and have them check it out

A break in should be one day of heavy engine use with proper temperatures to set everything. IMO if its not done from the start that's when issue could arise.

KW says its not water pump, just stuppid fitting in front of head that coolant hose from air compresssor goes on. I told them about blow by and sweet blow by hose but they were its mot bad, drive it more. More like drive it till warranty expire

And 4 years later looks like i have blown head gasket. Coolant is dumping on overflow hose. No coolant in oil. Just extra pressure in coolant. I sested coolant with 2 different coolant teater for exhaust gases and on noth liquid changed from blue to green and there was air bubbles. Than i took it to cat, no more KW thia time. Cat bypass air compressor and they said bubbles are still there. They gonna start tearing it down. I hope block is still good
