It does not work in germany. They are limited to 4axles and 32t.
This is swiss truck 40t, they do this for like 19-20years. they are legal here too since 2016.
It is not standard but conversion from 8x4.
This 5th axle cost like 40% of truck or like 4x more than on other brands. In swiss they dont care for that, but everywhere else it is a problem.
90% of 5 axle trucks we have here has pusher axle instead of tag, Works much better in construction. Plus you avoid air suspension.daf105paccar, Cat sdp, Pamela1990 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm sure you've said it before, but where is "here"?Pamela1990 and Oxbow Thank this.

and i am born in a place little bit steeper than netherland.
city surrounded with 7 mountains, tops are 5360-6580ft high.
to get out of area you have to climb above mountain pass, we have places where you have elevation of 2200ft at once, than you go down, than up...
even with now vastly improved roads and modern trucks, fully loaded truck with retarder and driver with very heavy leg can get average speed of 33mph on best roads.
on photo is 1971 mercedes Lps2224 6x4 tractor and 3axle semitrailer, last axle has selfsteering and single wheels
