Well, you do know these young people have discovered many things. If you put a pot of water over heat, you can boil water. Never been done before.

Lol
oh and look !
A picture of my buttocks in tight pants bending over the van .
I lived in a truck with a 36 inch sleeper for three years.
And I built a shower and chemical toilet under the bunk and a fridge under the passenger seat .Pamela1990 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Yep
Got a old crappy VW van instead of a full size Ford or Chevy or sprinter .
and getting mail is easy.
I handled that when I was on the road driving .
I just had it all sent to my parents house and they opened it and told me about anything important when I called them
twice a week.
They also wrote a check to pay my credit card bill every month .
finding a sustainable community ?
I’m not even sure what that means .
locating a hippie commune should not be that difficult .
and you don’t tell people you’re living in a van.
You tell them you’re on vacation.
Getting prescription meds is always a pita even for normal people who live in houses .Chinatown, Pamela1990, Studebaker Hawk and 1 other person Thank this. -
I can see me doing something like this once my kids are grown and done with college.
There was a movie I recently saw with the actress from Fargo living in a van. It was a good movie.

I tried the Van Expediter thing. That's a way to do this while getting paid to run freight, though the pallets or whatever will take up space. When unloaded though you can stretch out.
Studebaker Hawk and Shackdaddy Thank this. -
You make good coin doing that ?
I know the custom critical guys seem to do well. -
I did okay but not great. I got in working under a Fleet Owner. If a person with a stable situation who also owns their Van ( which also meets all freight requirements ) gets into this as basically the Owner Operator, they might do a lot better.

I have a friend that owns his van . Can’t be that hard to buy a used sprinter van .
He got one at an insurance auction with minor damage and a savage title and repaired it .
Last time I talked to him he said , after fuel , he was clearing 80 cents a mile .
no CDL , no DOT, no weigh stations , no logbooks , etc -
A driver that used to post on here pulls a horse trailer with a pickup truck. He hauls freight in it 'under the radar'. He was hauling motorcycles, bicycles, and anything that wasn't too heavy. Said he never stopped at scales and had never been pulled over.
Wasted Thyme and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
He’s never been to Florida , every trailer , and box truck, stops at the agricultural inspection station ,or gets chased down .
