I always thought the 262 was just a 250 with a smoke turbo little bitty thing about the size of a hair dryer. I also remember those NA motors would have that orange glow at the end of the stack the taller the flame told you how much the fuel was turned up.

This nostalgia of old days trucking is like my 3 years in the Army.
Would not take anything for having done it, but have no desire to be doing it again,
Lesson learned. L190 day cab, split seats, your bag stuffed between the seats to fill/level, good quality movers pad folded for a mattress, army surplus blanket and a pillow. ICC exempt loads(produce-livestock-grain/seed),running 20 hours most days.Speed_Drums, Pamela1990, lovesthedrive and 6 others Thank this. -

You crossing NM and your stack was not "firing", you pulled into "One Armed Bill's in Lordsburg and have him "turn a little more to it"
One Arm, could set the valves on a Mack and it idle so smooth you could balance a nickel on the head. Actually had one good arm and a "nub" on left arm.
Old tin sided shed shop, south/left side of US80 WB, last saw it in May 58 as coming back to go in Army.Pamela1990, lovesthedrive, Rideandrepair and 3 others Thank this. -
It will be a blizzard, and I'm real happy I'm not running I-29 up there tomorrow. Whole lot of nothing out there, and not many places to duck into, so you just keep running until you can't.
Snows started here, but the winds only blowing about 30 mph right now. I'm going to sleep and dream about warm places. Night all.Pamela1990, austinmike, Eldiablo and 10 others Thank this.
