It's sooooo nice being local.
I park my daycab at the company terminal each night and go home.
Where I shower in my own shower.
And sleep in my own bed.

yeah it doesn't matter what we say anymore is the goverment world out there so just stay calm and go with the flow. Don't kill yourself trying to understand trucking anymore is not worth it. Just try the best you can and leave it to obama he'll take care of it!!! yeah right.

It's all a game. WE as drivers have to stop this country for a week or maybe two. (including the O/O's). even if rails do alot of the transporting of the cargo , it still takes the trucker to get the load to the dock's. As long as the reciever gets their shipment, they could care less about the trucker getting their rest. the shipper usually try's to overload you to get their monies worth out of the carrier and get you on your way, then the #### Lumpers jack you for a cut thats sometimes unreasonable,they try to get more out of you even if the unloading is prepaid for. I try if I can to get there a few hours to a couple of hours before the delivery time and if lucky explain the situation to the desk (as Politly as I can- Kinkness is sometimes a key to your advancement) therfore I put myself ahead of the HOS rules. sometimes it works sometimes it does not. but, while at a reciever I look for the nearest Truckstop or go to the yard shop and ask around for a decent lot out of the way for parking., hell I've even parked on side roads as close to the roadside as possible. but, dept of transportation has to do something about this complete situation, as for us in the long run its ###### if we do and ###### if we dont.........ITS ALL A GAME.... as they leave it to us as the driver to find the pieces to complete the game we are playing..... As far as delivering their frieght and not parking on the vender's lot...IF THEY WANT THEIR FRIEGHT THEY'LL LET US PARK THERE. -
My advice, if I'm out of hours and they tell me I can't stay there? I leave the trailer.

Where was your mistreatment? he told you you could not stay so you have to leave ..It's that simple.. walmart leases most all their properties and the property owner does not want you to sleep there, Why is it most drivers think they have the right to do "What they want" and not adhere to common rules and as far as you being out of hours and cant move ?? tell that to the cop that arrests you for tresspassing when he shows up to make you leave..but i guess thats why you work for US..

I could never figure that one out . Ok i am a company that recieves products. I need to offload the trucks, let me hire some people to do that but let me have other people pay for that service as it is done.HUH the most reterded thing ever it should be part of the COST of delivering the load. Thats all I have to say. by the way I never had to pay for it it was paid by the company I worked for just had a check made out to the lumper

Dangit driver! I jinxed myself. Had this exact situation happen this week at a Dollar General DC.
Had a 5pm apt. drove 500 miles. plenty of time so I took a leisurly pace. Left at 6am. got there early, stopped for dinner in town, rolled into the DC 50 minutes early. Easy cheesey right?
Turns out 5pm is when the Night shift STARTED. The clerk wouldn't even acknowledge our existence before 4:59.59pm. And it was a Live unload. (uh-oh) and there were lumpers (2x uh-oh) At 7:15 I started getting "concerned" sure the truckstop was litterally RIGHT across the highway, and there was always plenty of parking at this one. (middle of no-where) but why chance it?
So at 7:20 I started being a nudge. I got into the dock and watched the lumper pull and count skids. Luckly he was cool and din't have any problem with me yanknig off skids with a hand jack. Still the load needed to be re-stacked and counted. So I talked to the head of the lumpers, said if I wasn't out by the top of the hour I'd be stuck in their dock overnight.
I must have been very polite, because he went over and counted the load with the lumper so the paperwork could be finished ASAP.
I got my bills at 7:54 and was at the guard-shack at 7:57. Hit the parking lot of the truckstop just as the clock ticked over to 8:01.
Ironicly, I could have slept a little later and not had such a problem with my 14 hour clock.
