I have put 60,000 miles on my truck since the inframe 8 months ago. Getting 5.5 MPG now instead of 5.2, doesn't use a drop of oil between changes and no smoke or blowby. I would say that the PAI parts are just as good as the Detroit stuff but cheaper.
Interstate-McBee vs PAI ! Which one is better for Detroit Series 60 inframe?

FOR ANYONE READING THIS RESEARCHING
Even though it cost more than the OE rebuild kits, I use the PAI HP kits EVERY TIME for non-egr 60s. They even sell a (1 piece) mono-therm piston kit for the older 60s now. I use GENUINE OE for the late 60s egr motors mainly because there isn’t a better option. The coated bearings and pistons from PAI really help with the initial break-in. McBEE is GARBAGE. Seriously, I would park the truck if that’s all I could get. MAHLE makes the pistons for Detroit.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I might as well update. I’ve got 70k in the FP Federal mogul inframe. Had a bit of blowby when idling long periods, and sometimes after running hard in summer. Now the rings seems to be sealing up good. No blowby. Fuel mileage is still only 5-5.4 still waiting for it to bump up. Any day now, Lol. In fairness it never has gotten very good mpgs. 5.8-6.2 tops, Usualky 5.5. If it doesn’t improve soon after running an overhead, Im going to change injector calibration back to correct ones. Might have to take them out and have them tested. Maybe try a ecm tune, or a different turbo. 702 BG non wastegated working well above 1250-1300 RPMs, any lower, not very good at all. It is pulling real good, could always be better though. I hear good reports on the K31 wastegated turbo for power and mpgs. I’ll know more soon enough.
