You only have to change your license if your goin to their school--if you already have your license before going to stevens--you shouldnt have to change them--its only if you go to school in another state--you then have to begin by getting a permit in that state and you get your license in that state and have to change them back over when going home.

You only have to change your license if you move to that state You get a License from the State you are from. You are getting a CDL. and also its not legal to have more than one license. Now maybe Im wrong but I thought that you didnt have to switch to Texas and then back to your original state. Also that sounds like a piss poor deal to me when I signed on with my Co. they sent me a bus pass and I picked it up at the bus terminal where I live. Now it was a different Co than the one u mention. But that would be a serious red flag for me all that money tied up. If I were getting my CDL ,which I have I would tell you to go to a trucking school and not a trucking CO.

    71pintokiller Thanks this.

The thing is--when you go to a company school in another state--you have to get a permit there and when you get your license it will be in that state. If you already have license--you shouldnt have to switch to that state. Its only if you go to another state for schooling that you would have to change your license--.

Yeah and then when you get home to "change" the CDL to your home state it's MORE money you don't have out of pocket to get your "home state" CDL!

Hope this gives you another reason to go to a college or tech school for BETTER training and at a cost of 1/2 to 3/4 cheaper! Why PAY to get a cesspool job?

Just So you folks know, The 8 speed has nothing to do with being "Harder to destroy". I was with the company back when they started buying these trucks. The transmissions are actually 13 speeds without the splitter. when they resell them they install the splitter. raises the resale value.

Stevens is a rip off!!!! The dispatch team has their head up their a^^ they have no idea where to send the drivers!! Don't work for this rip off company...they su^^!!! Your better off working at a fast food company, cause the pay is below min. Wage. Hardly any miles, maybe if your lucky 1400 miles a week

Goes to show you they can't even trust their drivers with anything, let alone to shift gears. No wonder their trucks are doing 20-25 on little molehills like Monteagle, screwing up those of us that can actually climb hills faster than an amish buggy.

They also cut the balls off of the Cat motor, and governed 7th at 1400 rpm. Sucks to climb a hill.
