I haven't looked into it, because I thought there were pretty strict requirements.
On the other hand, since I do all my own wrenching, I kind of like the idea of a second perspective once a year too.
I'll have to mull it over. Do you do your own?

Yeah, unless im near time and have it at my mechanic, basically every time he has it i pay him 100$ to look it over anyway and tell me things i may have missed, no one (mechanic or dot) has ever caught anything i didnt at least know about, mechanic has brought things up that were either worse than i thought or i already was planning on fixing...lynchy, God prefers Diesels and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Nobody stood up to seat belt laws nor helmet laws. Plenty of people screamed from the rooftops that those laws are wrong and would open the door for more laws allowing the government and businesses to make personal health decisions for others but nobody gave a crap. Now here we are! It's NOT going away. Most 'Muricans are lazy apathetic losers who will gladly give away everything as long as they can be fat and happy. They're selfish individuals who care not about the world their descendants will "live" in.401-Alex, Pamela1990, 91B20H8 and 6 others Thank this.

They can pass all the Laws they want. If I disagree, I won’t follow it. Seat belt law is a good example. We went from “Please Buckle Up” to a Law requiring it, but only ticketed as a second offense after being pulled over for a first Offense. Soon everyone got used to that. Especially since they’d hand out a seat belt ticket in lieu of a speeding ticket. Then it became a primary offense. They can pull you over for not wearing it. As soon as the Law was changed. Please buckle up, became “Buckle up, It’s the Law” or my favorite “Click it or ticket”. I’m sure seatbelts save lives. I’d rather have the choice to take my chances. Charge a premium on my policy if needed. Fair enough to the others as far as premium costs across the board are concerned.
